And whilst there are benefits to rejecting hustle culture, Black Women don’t always have the luxury of refusing to overperform.

Quiet quitting is maybe a passive approach to a problem with your work life because you're just letting it happen to you. When what you really need to understand is the relationship between what you want from work and take action.

The Power of Purpose - Finding Your Mid-Career Why

In this episode, I reflect on my mother's experience of losing her sense of purpose in midlife after retirement. Watching my mother go through this journey has been difficult, as she’s always been a vibrant and active person who loved her family and was passionate about her work. However, once she retired she struggled to find a new sense of meaning and purpose in life.

I watched firsthand how the loss of purpose affected her mental and physical health, and I realized that this is a common experience for many women in midlife. Major changes in life such as retirement, children leaving home, job loss, can be a time of transition and reflection, and for some, it can be a challenge to find new sources of fulfillment and meaning.

Through my mother's experience, I learned the importance of having a sense of purpose and its positive impact on life. I also discovered some practical strategies and exercises for rediscovering purpose in midlife, such as exploring personal values, strengths, and interests, and seeking out new opportunities for growth and connection.

In this episode, I share my insights and reflections on my mother's journey and offer tips and advice for anyone struggling to find their purpose in midlife. Whether you're going through a similar experience or simply interested in this topic, I hope that this episode will inspire and encourage you to rediscover your sense of purpose and live a more fulfilling life. So join me as I reflect on my mother's experience of losing purpose in midlife and the lessons I learned along the way.

The Power In An Intentional Pause

Circumstances have forced me to be absent for a while, with good reason.

To push the pause button on my business.

But I've discovered that there is a kind of beauty hidden within an intentional pause.

It's in those moments that we allow the beauty contained within it to break open, revealing its benefits onto the way we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us.

When I decided to change careers a few years ago, I did it to have more time and freedom in my life.

Never did I think that this decision would be the best decision I'd ever make when it came to my Mother.
